Congratulations to Dr. Sibylle Knapp for her outstanding thesis work on rock-slope failures impacting lakes, which has been awarded the Dissertation Award 2021 of the Munich Geocenter. Through her highly innovative methodological approach, Sibylle can decipher multistage event series of massive rock-slope failures in time and space. Assessing both lacustrine and terrestrial sediment archives allows her to characterize effects of the impact and the catchment response. For her dissertation, Sibylle worked on rockslides and rockfalls in the European Alps in Switzerland (Lake Oeschinen, Flims) and in Germany (Lake Eibsee, Zugspitze).
