DrawOn - AI-based analysis of construction plans to automate project data management in complex construction projects.

Plan drawings are still the primary documentation medium in construction projects. Although plans are nowadays generated as digital image files, the information they contain is not accessible for digital processes. Even in medium-sized construction projects, tens of thousands of such data sets are created and currently have to be manually tagged with metadata. The aim of the DrawOn project is to use AI and Big Data methods to tap into this unused information base. Machine learning methods are used to recognize plan types and plan components, perform ontology-based classifications, and automatically generate rough 3D models. The methods developed should enable plans to be automatically integrated into digital processes and their management to be optimized by a project platform (CDE), which in turn increases the economic efficiency of construction projects.
