Mineral Resources and Applied Petrography
Research of the group is dedicated to deposits of industrial minerals (kaolin, bentonite, special clays, siliceous earths, high-purity quartz, pyrophyllite, magnesite, etc.), aggregates, dimension and decorative stones, gemstones (garnet, amethyst, agate) and selected metallic ores (nonsulfide and carbonate-hosted Zn-Pb deposits, REE, Au). The projects deal with the genesis of mineral deposits, e.g. transport and accumulation of elements and formation of economic minerals in their geological context, as well as the evaluation of raw materials and rock properties. Other research topics are archaeometry and urban geology.
