Building Physics and Energy Efficiency
Particularly, various main aspects of energy efficient and sustainable building are analyzed in the context of questions relating to building physics. Highly-efficient concepts for new constructions (energy and material efficiency) and the innovative energetic renovation of buildings are the main topics, focusing on technical solutions and strategies as well as the avoidance of structural damages and their elimination. Fundamental knowledge is taught providing the qualification to issue energy performance certificates and to assess sustainability of complex buildings. Different building utilizations and typologies in respect of legal boundary conditions and of regional, national and international circumstances are examined. Further knowledge, such as dynamic thermo-hygric behaviour of buildings, serves to understand complex processes of building physics. By means of numerical methods and by applying building simulations these processes are visualized. Restricting factors such as comfortableness, noise protection, hygiene and health are also significant and are offered as course modules in the context of this specialization.
