Soil-Lab
The soil lab is open for staff members and students associated with the Chair (e.g., writing a thesis). Its primary function is to achieve parameters describing the hydrological function of soil samples from the field. Such parameters can be:
- Grain size distribution and organic matter
- Soil water content and bulk density
- Degree of acidity and buffering capability
- Behaviour of infiltration and soil water retention
Subsequently, these parameters are important for a realistic simulation of soil in hydrological models. Compared to field experiments, the laboratory facilitates more precise analysis results as it provides controllable environmental conditions.
