Peri-urbanization describes processes in which rural areas located in the outskirts of cities transform into attractive living and working environments. While people decide to stay within their home neighborhood the peri-urban region may likely gain economic and societal stability as well as resilience. The workshop provides a platform for discussion of pros and cons from various geographic standpoints . Topics to be discussed include structural and infrastructural policy, fostering resilience, innovative farming, managing of local resources including energy, food and water, transportation, equal living conditions and systemic stability.
