We look forward to hearing from you! Nevertheless, because we receive a great number of inquiries regarding research opportunities, it is important that you send us the relevant information when contacting us; otherwise we will not be able to respond. This site provides you with an overview of possible opportunities and information on how to contact us.

If your are a student currently enrolled at TUM and are interested in a study project or a MSc thesis, please check the webpage with our MSc project proposals. Note that we only accept students who have successfully completed at least one of our classes.
If you are interested in a PhD position, note that PhD students in our group are typically hired as part of funded research projects. If such a PhD position is available, it is announced on the TUM job opportunities website and elsewhere. Occasionally, we accept PhD students that bring their own funding (e.g. through a fellowship or external PhD students working at research institutions). - Documents demonstrating your funding
- CV listing your experiences relevant to our work
- Copies of, or links to, your publications and theses
If you are interested in postdoctoral opportunities, I encourage you to write me if you have previous experience in a topic related to our research areas. Occasionally, we have funded postdoctoral opportunities. These are announced on the TUM job opportunities website and elsewhere. In addition, for excellent candidates, TUM and Germany offers quite good opportunities for obtaining postdoctoral funding. These include the Humboldt fellowships, DAAD scholarships and not least the TUM postdoctoral fellowships. If you intend to apply for funding from any of these sources with our support, write an email to Prof. Straub with the following information:
- A description of your expertise and intended research area
- An explanation of how you envision that you would contribute to the ERA group
- Envisioned funding scheme
- CV listing your experiences relevant to our work, your education and publication record and references
- Copies of, or links to, your publications and theses
If you are interested in a short-term stay as a visiting scholar, postdoc or PhD student, note that you must provide your own funding for travel and accommodation. Funding may be available from DAAD. The minimum stay is 3 months. To apply, write an email to Prof. Straub with the following information:
- A description of your expertise, intended research area and envisioned timing of the visit
- A CV listing your experiences relevant to our work, your education and publication record and references
