SpeicherCHeck
Storage potential for CO2 and H2 in the Bavarian Molasse Basin (Speicherpotenzial für CO2 und H2 im Bayerischen Molassebecken)
The SpeicherCHeck project aims to analyse the storage potential for hydrogen and CO2 in the Bavarian Molasse Basin. The objectives of the project are as follows:
- Estimation of the storage potential of hydrogen and CO2 in depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs in the Bavarian Molasse Basin
- Development of a recommendation for mining law practice in the form of a catalogue of criteria for the storage of hydrogen and CO2 in porous rocks and trap structures in the Bavarian Molasse Basin
- Identification of potentially suitable demonstration sites, taking into account the developed catalogue of criteria and ideally the experiences from Bierwang and Gampern
- Regional-scale distribution and qualitative suitability assessment of various storage horizons based on preliminary studies and the catalogue of criteria developed
