This edition of Geologica Bavarica is addressed to the hydraulic groundwater conditions of the quaternary and tertiary aquifer in the wider area of Munich. The groundwater conditions in Munich, which were visualised and analysed via a detailed 3D-facies-modelling for the very first time. Besides the hydrogeological structure, further research points were the groundwater situation of the quaternary and tertiary aquifer (water table contour lines, depth to the water table and groundwater thickness), the dynamic and interaction of the several aquifers and their parameters (hydraulic permeability, groundwater flow direction and velocity). The groundwater situation and the parameters were elevated and interpreted by extensive analysis of existing data by public agencies and field studies of the „Chair of Hydrogeology“ (Technical University of Munich). The research was financed by the „Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and Consumer Protection“ and realised by the „Chair of Hydrogeology“ (Technical University of Munich), in cooperation with the Bavarian Environmental Agency, through the research projects „GEPO“ (2012 – 2015) an „GeoPot“ (2016 – 2019).
