Hailiang Jia has joined the Landslide Research group as a guest PhD candidate.
Hailiang is a PhD candidate from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in China, and will investigate "Rock degradation under repeated frost action" at the TUM for two years. He will conduct laboratory experiments to clarify the mechanical and thermal response of both cracked and intact rocks to frost action and evaluate the fatigue effects of repeated frost action on rock degradation. His research will help scientists better understand the mechanism of frost weathering and offer allow engineers to better forecast and protect against rock mass destabilization in cold regions.
