Eleven students from Engineering Geology and Environmental Engineering MSc programs joined Kerry Leith for an excursion to study various aspects of construction and hazard assessment in Alpine regions.
The trip included visits to a range of environments, including large post-glacial slope instability (Flims), solifluction (Furka pass), debris flow (Wildbach and Illgraben), recent rockfall (Randa and Medji), glacier retreat and calving (Hohsaas and Mattmark), and progressive rock slope failure (Saas Balen).
Thanks to all who participated, and the weather for providing a sunny four-day window in what has been a very wet summer!
