Anne attended the 2017 Kirk Bryan field trip: Exploring the mechanics, frequency, and impacts of deep seated landslides in Washington State organized for the Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America, GSA 2017, October 21-25, Seattle,Washington, USA. Deep-seated landslides in the Cascadian mountains as well as landslides in valley spanning glacial deposits, especially the 2014 Oso landslide, were the hot spots for intense and inspiring discussions in the pouring rain. In beautiful sunshine the GSA conference offered many possibilities to further discuss the mechanics, frequencies and impacts of landslides, rockfalls, glacial/fluvial erosion/deposits and geologic hazards. Anne contributed to the discussion at the conference with a talk on "Constraining the physics of subcritical crack growth in Carrara marble using neutron diffraction techniques"(#296203).
