From October 15-28, Sibylle attended an international summer school in China focused on field data collection, monitoring and modelling of large landslides. The courses were held in the Province Sichuan at the State Key Laboratory of Geohazard Prevention and Geoenvironment Protection in Chengdu, and at the Wenchuan Earthquake Disaster Prevention and Reduction Education Center in Beichuan County, where the Wenchuan Earthquake 2008 (M=8.0) triggered various large landslides and destroyed most parts of Old Beichuan town. Here, Sibylle and 30 other international young researchers trained their skills on investigating and monitoring of large landslides and the disaster-chain effects.
